It's one of the easiest ways to get into plants, even if you've never kept one alive. All you need is a cutting, water and some light. Your Propagation Planter takes care of the rest.

These are common, forgiving plants that root reliably in water. Start with one of these.
Times are typical, not guaranteed. Warmth and light speed things up, and cooler months slow them down.
Tip: Ask a friend for a cutting. Most plant people are happy to share.
First signs (about 1–2 weeks): small white or cream bumps at the node.
Growing roots (about 2–4 weeks): thin white roots that get longer, then grow little side roots.
Healthy roots are white to light tan and firm.
Not healthy: brown, mushy or smelly roots, or a slimy stem. Trim off the bad part, rinse the tube and start fresh with clean water.
Nothing yet after a few weeks? That's normal for some plants, especially in winter. As long as the stem is firm and green, keep waiting.

No node underwater. Roots grow from nodes. A leaf with no node usually won't make a new plant.
Leaves in the water. They rot and cloud the water. Pull them off.
Letting the tube run dry. The tube is small, so check it every few days.
Hot, direct sun. It can overheat the water and scorch the leaves. Bright, indirect light is best.
Giving up too soon. Some plants take a few weeks. Firm and green means it's still working.
Old, cloudy water. Swap it out about once a week.

Every Propagation Planter comes with magnets and a test tube. Just add water and a cutting.
