Frequently Asked Questions

How do I contact you?

Email admin@propagationplanters.com or use the contact form. You can also find us on Instagram @propagationplanters and YouTube @PropagationPlanters.

What comes with a Propagation Planter?

Each one comes with the 3D-printed planter, magnets and a plastic test tube. Just add water and a cutting.

Are plants included?

No. Plants and cuttings aren't included. Pothos, philodendron, mint and spider plants are easy places to start, and a friend with a houseplant is usually happy to share a cutting. See our How to Propagate guide.

Is it magnetic? Where can I put it?

Most models are magnetic. The best places are the fridge, lockers, and any other magnetic surface. Filing cabinets and metal doors work too. Some stainless steel isn't magnetic, so test the spot with any magnet first.

Which ones stand on their own?

The Longhorn, Cowboy Boot © and Coffee Cup stand on their own on a shelf or desk. Each product page says whether that model is magnetic, stand-alone or both.

How much do they cost?

Prices are approximately $20.

How often should I change the water?

Top it up when the level drops, and swap in fresh water about once a week or whenever it looks cloudy. The tube is small, so check it every few days.

How much light does it need?

Bright, indirect light is best, like near a window but out of hot, direct sun. A bright room usually works fine.

How long until I see roots?

Easy plants like pothos, mint, coleus and tradescantia usually show roots in about 1–3 weeks. Slower plants like monstera can take 4 weeks or more. Warmth and light help. A good goal: free plants in about 4 weeks.

How do I refill and clean the test tube?

Lift the tube out of the planter, pour out the old water and refill it over the sink. To clean the tube, rinse it with warm, soapy water (a small bottle brush or pipe cleaner helps), then rinse well.

Do they make good gifts?

Yes. They're an easy gift for plant lovers, sports fans, teachers, coworkers and anyone who says they can't keep plants alive. For a nice touch, pair one with a cutting from your own plant.

Do you offer wholesale?

Yes, we work with shops and boutiques. Visit our wholesale page to get started.
